My art has evolved through several stages, which have generally
paralleled my place of residence. The Western Regional movement made
its impact during my two decades in Wyoming and a more Impressionist
style was an influence during my years in Hawaii. The Plein Air
Style of the Early California Impressionists has been with me from
my early California education in art and has emerged as my dominant
mode of expression as I work from my studio in Pauma Valley. This
area was chosen for its beauty and cultural diversity.
I work in oil, watercolor, and egg tempera, depending on the subject
and my response to it. My field studies are frequently used to
construct larger pieces in my studio.
